What is a Ball Check Valve?
A spring-loaded Ball Check Valve is designed to allow the flow in one direction and prevent it from reversing and flowing in the reverse direction.
These valves are often used in industrial, commercial, residential, oil and gas, water treatment, and chemical processing. Like most check valves, the valve opens with the media flowing in the preferred direction lifting the ball off the seat. The spring-loaded design helps close the valve before the flow reverses. The spring is also required for operation with the flow in the vertical orientation. The main advantage is quick closing of the valve reduces the chance of water hammer and backflow. The main disadvantages are the increased pressure drop because of valve design and higher cracking pressure. Ball checks are primarily available in 2” and below sizes.
